ClipGuard

Decide which apps can read or write your clipboard. No root required.

Features

No more unwanted pasting

Stop apps from silently reading what you copied or overwriting your clipboard.

Protect your privacy

Passwords, codes and messages you copy stay away from apps you don't trust.

Per-app read/write control

Allow or block reading and writing separately for every app.

Never reads your clipboard

ClipGuard only changes Android permissions (app-ops). It never reads, stores or uploads clipboard content.

No root required

Works with Wireless debugging on Android 11+, or with ADB or root.

How to use

  1. Turn on Developer options
Open Settings › About phone and tap Build number 7 times until you see “You are now a developer”. On some phones it is under Software information.
  2. Pair with Wireless debugging
Connect to Wi-Fi, open Developer options › Wireless debugging, turn it on and choose Pair device with pairing code. In ClipGuard tap Pairing, enter the code in its notification, then tap Start on the home screen. (Android 10 and older: start it from a computer with ADB, or with root.)
  3. Change app clipboard permissions
Open Clipboard management and use the Read and Write switches for each app. Read off: the app cannot see what you copy. Write off: it cannot replace your clipboard.

The full usage guide is also available inside the app (menu › How to use).
